Menu Planning
So . . . dear readers, dear eaters, dear friends . . . if you were a resident of my tiny North Georgia town, and you were getting a gourmet sandwich at my new café. . .
What'll ya have?
I'm just finishing up a draft of our menu this week. I've got some good ideas (how about turkey with lite herbed mayo and swiss on whole wheat with lettuce and tomato?) but I wanted to throw this out there - what sandwiches would you like to see on the menu?
Here are the rules - you have to START with these ingredients!
Turkey, ham, roast beef
White bread, wheat bread, and possibly a rye or sourdough
American cheese, swiss cheese, and perhaps a third? Cheddar?
What are your favorite sandwiches with these as your base ingredients?
Leave me a comment to let me know!

Roastbeef on Sourdough with horseraddish mayo, Provolone cheese, lettuce and tomato.
ReplyDeleteHoney Ham with Swiss heated with a Honey Dijon mustard.
OR perhaps just make a crossant filled with the honey ham and swiss cheese... tasty as an app.
I forgot! We have croissants, too!
ReplyDeleteTurkey on white or wheat with American Cheese and a piece of lettuce. I'm easy to feed!
ReplyDeleteWill you have a chicken salad? Chicken salad on a croissant will probably be my last meal... with a RV cake on the side.
ReplyDeleteHam, Swiss, Dijon on white.
Turkey, provolone on wheat.
Turkey, Ham and Swiss on sourdough. O.M.G.
Pimento cheese on SOMETHING!
ReplyDeleteTurkey, provolone, mayo, cranberry sauce, onions and lettuce on pumperknickle
Hot ham, cream cheese and honey mustard on a croissant
Turkey & swiss with mayo, tomato, lettuce and avacado. mmmm!
ReplyDeleteWill you guys be doing wraps too?
What about some sort of veggie sandwich? I'm not a vegetartian or anything, but it's just a thought. What about sprouts, avocado, cucumber, tomato and swiss with honey mustard on pita or something like that?
ReplyDeleteIf I walked into your shop and saw that you had some sort of sandwich with avocado on it - I'd totally order that. So I guess my vote is for anything with avocado! :-) I so enjoy reading your blog and seeing what steps you take....I just love it!

Okay, clearly I'm a bit numbskulled today because I also forgot to mention that we have chicken salad, egg salad, pimento cheese . . .

ReplyDeleteI am with Amy! I love turkey sandwiches with mayo and a cranberry sauce of sorts. I am also a sucker for a good turkey reuben.
ReplyDeleteChicken salad on croissants for sure.
ReplyDeleteBread (white or wheat) spread with pimento cheese and topped with cheddar -- stuck under the broiler till the cheddar is all bubbly.
Turkey on white with honey mustard and cheddar cheese, and tomatoes of course.
Now I need an sandwich. :)
A hot turkey, cheddar cheese with slices of green granny smith apples sandwich on grilled sourdough bread. Super Yummy!!!
ReplyDeleteWhere in Jefferson will your cafe be?
ReplyDeleteMy favorite sandwich of all time is turkey breast, pepper bacon, tomato, lettuce, and avocado with a light mayo spread on whole grain toast. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I am not a huge fan of coldcuts, so I am so glad to see the other options!
ReplyDeleteChicken salad on sourdough or croissant with lettuce and tomato would be my first choice.
Hmmmm... of those ingredients, roast beef on wheat with cheddar cheese and horseradish mayo sounds delish. Or regular mayo and a spicy brown mustard. (I like a little kick with my roast beef.) I also agree with turkey and avocado combo of sorts... yum! And, I'm always a sucker for a good chicken salad with red onion, green apples, celery, and sliced almonds.
ReplyDeleteWill you have a way to do grilled sandwiches? I love grilled cheddar and tomato on sourdough!
ReplyDeleteAvocado, Granny Smith apple, chutney (mango, cranberry), cheeses with zip to them (feta, variations on blue), and substantial bread (grains and nuts and thickness oh my!) will ALWAYS be reasons for me to order sandwiches. not to mention sandwiches are my FAAAAVE food group, besides guacamole.
ReplyDeletekettle cooked potato chips (cape cod!) and chocolate chip cookie...we're in business. (literally! har har.)
if you want to start a volunteer list, i would like to add my name to "hey i can do some work sometime!" :)
I love french dips with roast beef and swiss. So delicious!
ReplyDeleteSome of my faves would be
ReplyDeleteThin sliced ham grilled with spiced onions,
green peppers, tomatoes, & melted Swiss cheese topped w/ mayo
Slices of roast beef & smoked turkey layered w/ smoked gouda cheese w/ lettuce & a spicy Russian mustard
